About

We are an enthusiastic and friendly club, based in Jesmond, within Newcastle upon Tyne. Established since 1924, we are affiliated to the Northumberland Badminton Association, and at present we have 8 teams (4 mixed, 2 mens and 2 ladies) in the Northumberland League. Visitors and potential new members are very welcome. Please contact the club secretary Alison Thompson (please see the contacts page) if you are visiting the club for the first time.

We are an accredited BADMINTON England Premier Club. Premier Club is BADMINTON England’s Clubmark standard.  This indicates we are a club that has strong coaching and effective management, and that we take child protection very seriously.

As we are based in Jesmond, close to Osborne Road we have a good choice of pubs for after club night or match refreshments, and we tend to go out on a Thursday evening.

When

During the badminton season (September – March/April) our club nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays (both 7-10pm). Please see the calendar page for more details of what’s on this week. During the last few summers we have also run a summer club, every Wednesday evening (7:30-10pm).

Elmfield Tigers junior club runs every Tuesday during the season (from 5:30-7pm). The sessions are taken by level 2 qualified coach Martin Fagan.

Where

Our venue is Church High School, on Tankerville Terrace, Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne. This is within easy reach of most areas of Newcastle.
