We are an enthusiastic, friendly and competitive badminton club, based in Jesmond, within Newcastle upon Tyne. Established in 1924, we are affiliated to Badminton England and the Northumberland Badminton Association and at present, we have 8 teams (4 mixed, 2 men’s and 2 ladies’) who compete in the Northumberland League. Visitors and potential new members are very welcome. Please contact the Club Secretary, Alison Thompson, (please see the contacts page) if you are visiting the club for the first time.
We are an accredited BADMINTON England Premier Club which is BADMINTON England’s Clubmark standard. This indicates that we are a club that provides the right environment, ensuring the welfare of members and encouraging everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives. An accredited club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages as well as helping parents and carers know that they’re choosing the right club for their young people.
During the badminton season (September – March) our club nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays (both 7.30pm – 10pm). We also run a summer club from May – August which is currently running during 2021 on Thursdays evenings from 7.30pm – 9.30pm at The Northumberland Club at a cost of £6 per session.
